Humpbacks Letter Opener

I can't help myself when it comes to carving. Even when it hurts like the dickens while carving. Yeah, I can hear you... If it hurts so much, why keep doing it? Ok, smart guy... Stop breathing. See how long that lasts. And any cracks about suffering for my art will be met with a mega head slap Jethro Gibbs style.

So I got this nice chunk of cow bone 6 inches long, 3/8ths of an inch thick at the thickest and 1 1/8th inches wide at the widest after I finished carving it.

I used my Turbo Carver and dental carbides, files to shape and carve the bone and sanding/polishing papers to finish the surfaces.

Hope the pictures will do it justice especially since I have some faint details that may not show up even with a macro lens.

I can say, it was fun to carve and it's likely I will carve a few more letter openers on bone.
